The Japanese poetic form of haiku (funny verse) is the shortest poem form in the world: it consists of a total of 17 syllables divided into 5-7-5 syllables, arranged in one or three lines. Initially, he usually described images of nature and gave clues about the season of the year through the use of seasonal words (kigo). Subsequently, his subject matter gradually acquired greater diversity and his strict form became more flexible.
Traditionally, a haiku should last and be read as long as one holds one’s breath.
